I was Crafted to be Great (print)

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut bibendum tortor sit amet ligula rutrum, at porta tortor convallis ...

Ong Dia in Vietnamese, or more widely known as the Laughing Buddha, is depicted as a large Jade Statue, but understood as a welcoming yet overwhelming figure. He is a God meant to embody luck and prosperity, and now has extreme associations with wealth and money. Hau Pham was intrigued by how an object can technically represent a figure so intensely thought about and worshiped, and the aesthetic beauty that comes with the process of making of the statue itself. Pham was both curious and amused at the thought of who owns this statue, someone who has a desire for luck economically, but also had the funds to purchase it in the first place. A desire for Greatness is alive in the essence of the statue and the owner.

There are 5 limited edition Prints of this work available.

Where it's been: The original oil painting has been exhibited in both Vancouver and Toronto, at the Commercial Gallery Afternoon Projects and Artist Run Space Xpace Cultural Centre.

Love the new artwork in my office and living room. It lifts us up everyday, acts as a conversation piece in Zoom calls, and we love the most being able to support artists in our communities as well.
